Today I am sharing a really awesome hack I LOVE using in clients homes! I am definitely not the founder of this brilliant trick but I am a huge fan and wanted to share it with all of you!

Sconce lighting is all the rage right now and I am LOVING IT!! You might be wondering but Emily I don’t have a hard wire option where I want to hang a sconce light fixture and I definitely do not want to pay an electrician to add one! *Time for the hack*
You DO NOT need hard wired electricity! You just need the following:
- A sconce light (cannot have a glass shade)
- Brilliant Evolution Battery operated remote controlled lights
- Velcro
Yep! That’s right 🙂 Let me show you:
Step 1
First you will need to purchase a sconce light fixture that does not have a glass shade. This is because we will be putting the battery operated light inside the shade and if the shade is clear glass, the plastic battery operated light would show.
I rounded up my favorite glass free sconces below:

Step 2
Choose the perfect space for your sconce light/lights. Maybe that is above your fireplace, beside your bed, or for me I chose to put mine above my small gallery wall in our breakfast nook area.
Step 3
Secure the battery opterated light inside the sconce shade with velcro.

Using velcro here will allow for you to easily replace the battery when it dies.

Step 4
Hang the sconce light using the base bracket that comes with your light.

Step 5
Test it out! Use your remote and turn that baby on! Now these light’s aren’t going to light an entire room but they will give your beautiful sconce function!

Quick Tip
I wanted a satin nickel sconce light but didn’t want to spend a lot so I found THIS SCONCE LIGHT and spray painted it a satin nickel finish!
This is such a fun idea and a great Pinterest trick anyone can use! I’ve already used this trick with a few clients and they love it!
