DIY Framed Mirror

in Uncategorized on 03/21/19

The full-length mirror I use in our master bedroom had this dark brown frame that no longer went with my master bedroom vision board. I tried painting it white and hated that so… I decided to re-frame it DIY style.

DIY Framed Mirror simple tutorial. Take you old ugly mirror and add a new frame using wood, liquid nails and stapled. #framedmirror #DIYFramedMirror #mirrormakeover #mirrorframe
Supplies
  • Old Mirror
  • Utility knife
  • Wood 6″ Wide (can be whatever thickness you want)
  • Liquid Nails
  • Staple gun and staples

See my old mirror below (after I painted it white):

Step 1: Remove Mirror from Old Frame

Remove the backing of the mirror and then use your utility knife to cut through the glue on the back of the mirror.

Step 2: Cut Wood Pieces for new Frame

We chose to use 6″ wide wood to frame this mirror. We measured the inside length of the old mirror frame to determine the length of the new pieces for the frame. Cut the wood using a miter saw at 45-degree angles.

I also chose to paint the wood with my natural wood wash stain recipe that I hope to create a blog post on soon 🙂

Step 3: Create Frame

Use a staple gun and liquid nails to connect the back of the wood frame pieces together.

Step 4: Glue frame to mirror

Use the liquid nails to glue the frame to the old mirror. Make sure not to use too much glue. If you use too much it can leak into the inside of the mirror so make sure to keep a wet paper towel handy to wipe of any leakage.

It gets a little messy!

TAH DAH!!

I thought this project was going to be a lot harder than it was to tell you the truth, but it turned out to be quick and easy! I hope this tutorial will help you turn your ugly mirror into something beautiful 🙂

I absolutely love this mirror since you redid it. It’s gorgeous. I wish I had the tools to make one myself. Maybe some day I will.

Installing windows in the house needs to be done properly and a good location. You need good adhesives or mounting that can hold it.

LET'S TALK METALS🖤💛 Remember I'm talking co LET'S TALK METALS🖤💛

Remember I'm talking cohesiveness this week and today is all about metals. When I design a space I like to stick to 1-2 metals in the space. For example, in this boys room I used mostly matte black metal. Swipe to see😊

Mixing metals is also really fun! My favorite combinations are nickel and brass or black and brass🤩

Remember our matra for the week: design is subjective, if you love it and it makes YOU happy, do it!!👏

Do you mix metals?? What's your favorite?
